Chiefly Commandeered

To stave off the otherwise inevitable pangs of despair, I refrain from any obvious journalistic interpretation and, in its stead, invite the readers to answer:  Is The Washington Post trolling us?

The double agents on the Potomac aren't so charitable, so lie to reassure me, darlings.

Go Somewhere, Young Man, Go Somewhere Else

With his characteristic sledgehammer subtlety, Dan "Bulldog" Mitchell considers the inverse of our perennial question qua cynical federalists:  Which is the best of these United States?

Intriguing indeed that North Dakota contends for both greatest "fracking" success and greatest freedom success in these bemusing times.  Regardless of causation, it would offer a heady and tempting blend (its per capita numbers cannot be rivaled), were it not a cultural and natural wasteland...

Still, your mileage may vary -- and again, causality is a harsh, wintry bitch.

Hey, Ends, Justify *This*!

Last week, Becker and Elias dropped the hammer on the obdurate, authoritarian fuckshits who comprise the vast majority of the "developed" world -- without, mind you, any of the demotic charm that characterizes this blog.

Here's my answer to Krugs, always and forever:

Oh, and you're (mostly) wrong about the Keynesian thing, too, Paul.  Shouldn't be a big deal to adjust your economic Weltanschauung, though...

Minimum Rage

Why are so many bloggers wasting so much verbiage on the minimum fucking wage?

Can't we just advocate wage subsidies, a guaranteed minimum income, etc., and declare the next bullshit victory over ignorance and want?

Alas -- and as usual -- Mungo and Angus owned this months before it really happened.

(Full disclosure:  I fucking hate the minimum wage.)

One Big, Damn Union

Fuck the SEIU.

As a proud, surviving scab of both UAW and SEIU affiliate shops, I summon all of my emotional resources -- and conjure every Dante-esque punishment -- when I say, "Go to Hell."

And take the whole Illinois apparatus of state with you, shitheels.
